Paris Awaits Messi

INTERNATIONAL: Football fans in Paris have come down with a serious case of “Messi Madness”. For two days straight, fans have camped outside the Parc des Princes stadium, the home of Paris St. Germain. Lionel Messi is rumoured to be joining the club after his tearful departure from Barcelona, but we stress the word, “rumoured”.

According to French media, Messi is expected to touch down at Le Bourget Airport in Paris sometime on Tuesday, and that he’s on the verge of signing a deal. It’s those reports that are whipping up the fans, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

The last time Messi mentioned Paris St. Germain was on Sunday when he said only that it was a possibility. There’s also been no further comment from the club itself. If he is moving to the Paris outfit, it’ll have been the worst kept secret in football. There’s little surprise the fans are so keen though. PSG has yet to win a Champions League title and they believe Messi could be the key.
